Participants of Redemption Road will be linked to local resources, including the Cumberland Valley Housing Authority, which will assist them in attaining viable permanent housing, and the KCEOC Community Action Partnership in Barbourville, Kentucky, and the Job Shop in London, Kentucky, for job training and placement services.

Life Skills Courses

Participants will take weekly life skills courses such as financial management, management, Résumé building, interview skills, employee ethics, cooking, cleaning, and other courses on necessary life skills to increase their likelihood of succeeding in the community following release.

GED Tutoring and Certification, Post-Secondary Education

GED Tutoring will be offered to all participants through the Knox County Adult Education and Family Literacy Agency at no cost to them. Transportation will be provided to and from the center. There are four subtests required to obtain a GED, and the fees for these tests will also be covered by Hope City. Those interested in post-secondary education are also given the opportunity to do so with the assistance of our case management team, and such assistance includes transportation, help with fees and applications, FAFSA application process, acquisition of books and other resources, etc.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided for all participants to and from necessary family visitations, court hearings, or other necessary meetings with key partners in the rehabilitation and reentry process. Transportation will be limited to necessary travel to meet the needs of the individual in successful reentry into the community.

Internship

Clients who successfully complete our 6-month program are given the opportunity to apply for a 6-month internship, where housing, utilities, transportation, and food are provided and during this time, and these individuals are able to give back through mentorship and other community outreach projects sponsored by our organization. Interns who successfully complete the 6-month internship are given the opportunity for part and/or full-time employment, depending on availability of funding. This is our biggest area of need, as we have several new graduates every year who qualify for internship and employment, so we are always looking for ways to provide these opportunities.
